Our Supply Strategy
Wabash Valley Power faces a continuous demand for power due to load growth within its members' service territories and its acquisition of new member systems. To continue to provide a reliable power supply at favorable prices, WVPA plans to take control of as much of the power supply as possible through investments in generation assets.
While the long-term goal is to develop more of its own generation, Wabash Valley Power is meeting member needs for reliable supply at stable prices by entering into purchased power arrangements that meet its needs at predictable costs. These agreements give WVPA adequate time to make the right decisions and move forward at a comfortable pace. Wabash Valley Power plans to have new baseload generation in operation by 2015.
Another key component of the association's power supply strategy is to reduce its business risks. As Wabash Valley Power continues to add to its owned generation portfolio, it will continue to work with utilities, cooperatives and other power suppliers in the region to identify opportunities for joint ventures and partnerships.
