Landfill Gas Generation
Wabash Valley Power now owns several operating and soon-to-be-online landfill gas plants in Indiana. Each plant can produce approximately 3.2 megawatts of electricity. Biomass gas, the product of landfill garbage decay, is captured and piped from vents to large Caterpillar engines where it is burned to generate electricity. This process removes the gas, transforming it into a reliable source of electricity.
