HOW DOES WABASH VALLEY POWER DIFFER FROM OTHER UTILITY COMPANIES?

Wabash Valley Power is a non-for-profit generation and transmission cooperative that serves the power supply needs of local distribution cooperatives (commonly referred to as REMCs, or rural electric membership cooperatives). Unlike traditional utility companies that generate electricity and sell it to customers at a profit, Wabash Valley Power works to provide a reliable supply of power at a competitive price in order for local co-ops to pass the savings along to their members.

CAN INVESTORS PURCHASE STOCK IN WABASH VALLEY POWER?

No. Wabash Valley Power is a membership organization that is owned by its member cooperatives. No outside ownership is available.

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF WABASH VALLEY POWER'S BOARD?

All operations of Wabash Valley Power is overseen by a board of directors elected from member-owners, and managed by professionals hired by the board.

IS WABASH VALLEY POWER ACCEPTING NEW MEMBER CO-OPS?

If you are a manager or a director of an electric power cooperative and are interested in learning more about the benefits of becoming a member of Wabash Valley Power, please contact CEO Rick Coons at 800.833.2279.

WHAT IS TOUCHSTONE ENERGY®?

Touchstone Energy is a nationwide community of locally-owned electric utilities that come together to share ideas, resources and technology. Wabash Valley Power and Indiana's electric cooperatives helped form the alliance to ensure that its members' needs would continue to be met in a responsible and reliable manner.

WHERE DOES ENVIROWATTS® ELECTRICITY COME FROM?

Through the EnviroWatts earth-friendly generation alternatives program, Wabash Valley Power makes it possible for co-op members to purchase electricity generated through renewable energy sources. EnviroWatts is the association's name for energy generated from sources such as wind and landfill gas. Members of participating co-ops can agree to purchase electricity from these sources for a slight premium.
